- Yeah, But...
Yeah, but…
Objections. Excuses. Fears. Let’s break them down.
Everyone wants freedom…
Until it’s time to book the flight.
This page is for all the “Yeah, but…” moments that stop you before you start.
“Yeah, but… I have kids.”
Exactly. That’s why you should go.
International schools = top-tier education + bilingual fluency + global social skills.
France, Portugal, Thailand: all have expat-friendly schools at a fraction of U.S. private tuition.
Your kids grow up smarter, braver, and more adaptable. That’s the gift.
“Yeah, but… what about taxes?”
Good question. Here’s the truth:
We’re an American LLC. We’re proud of it. The U.S. is still #1 when it comes to business infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and global clout.
While countries like Portugal, Thailand, and France may win for lifestyle, pace of life, and family benefits, America wins in business. Period.
At A Texas Nomad, we follow all U.S. tax laws.
And we only work with people who do the same.
The good news?
Living abroad doesn’t mean tax chaos. With the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE), you may legally exclude up to ~$120K/year from U.S. income taxes if you qualify.
Pair that with smart planning and nomad-savvy CPAs, and you’re good to go.
This isn’t about hiding. It’s about designing your life: legally, boldly, and with receipts.
“Yeah, but… I don’t speak the language.”
You’ll survive, and probably thrive.
Cities like Lisbon, Da Nang, and Tbilisi have strong English infrastructure.
Start with Duolingo, end up with accidental fluency after six months in cafés and mercados. Good for brain plasticity, one of ATN’s top goals.
“Yeah, but… isn’t it dangerous.”
Many international cities are as safe as, if not safer, than many of our American ones.
Medellín, for example, still has a stigma from its history of violence, yet recently was ranked in world crime statistics as safer than Houston. Many destinations have walkable neighborhoods, strong community vibes, and a rising middle class.
You’ll find safety comes from awareness, not geography.
“Yeah, but… I can’t leave my job.”
Cool. Don’t.
Many nomads keep their 9 to 5 and just change the view.
Others freelance, consult, or build something of their own.
You don’t need to burn it all down. You just need a strategy.
“Yeah, but… what do I pack?”
If you have to ask, you’re not ready.
Ask your mom. No wait, she’s exhausted. Ask ChatGPT.
Come back when you’re ready to soar, little chic.
“Yeah, but… what if I fail?”
You might.
But staying stuck in a life that doesn’t fit is failure too.
This isn’t about being fearless.
It’s about being ready enough.
